Striking modern bridge in beautiful countryside. Lovely views across the sea loch to the hills from the car park. Large parking area just off the main road.
MUST VISIT for NC500 drivers and visitors. Stop off in large car park for burn outs, drone shots and photos for the tourist. It's a bridge yes but the roads/scenery and location travelling is simple outstanding. A 100% must do when travelling Scotland in car / camper or motorbike.
Phenomenal, … I know it’s only a bridge but …. when we went over ( or across…. whatever ) it was an absolutely amazing fabulous day and again I’ll say it “ yes I know it was only a bridge but combined with the NC 500 it becomes an experience “ … Yes, traveling over the Kylesku Bridge is an experience on the North Coast 500. The bridge is a beautiful and iconic piece of Scottish engineering that spans the Loch a' Chàirn Bhàin in Sutherland. It is a popular tourist destination and is photographed by not only us, but most visitors to the area.
The bridge is a popular spot for fishing, swimming, and boating. There are also several walking trails in the area that offer stunning views of the bridge and the surrounding countryside.
If you are planning a trip to the North Coast 500, I highly recommend taking a drive over the Kylesku Bridge. It is an experience that you will not forget. I’m not saying “go there” just for the bridge ( that would be silly ) but if you are thinking about travelling the NC 500 don’t just drive over it, take your time and stop off for a moment.
Another great spot to stop in the highlands of Scotland for a photo and to stretch your legs. You can walk the entire bridge, although if you have fear of heights, you may want to skip it and stay on the side. Bonus: if you have a drone wonderful place to get shots especially if someone like me is brave enough to go out on the bridge. Whether it’s overcast or sunny this is a really nice spot and I’m glad that we paused here for photos.
We visited as part of our NC500 trip in our VW campervan.
The Kylesku Bridge, made famous for its appearance on Top Gear, spans a stunning stretch of water and offers a picturesque spot to capture some incredible photos.
Tip: park in the large carpark right by the bridge, rather than the viewpoint further up the road. There is plenty more space plus easier access to the bridge.
There are no toilet facilities, however there was a small catering van serving coffee, tea and other warm food options.
Must see bridge! There is a large car park just after the bridge.
3rd visit here. By far this was the best day weather wise.
I tell you what, if I had to choose between swimming over the loch or taking a bridge, well let me tell you, I’d choose this bridge hands down. 10/10 would use again.
It’s just a bridge, but it’s also set in some of the most amazing scenery you’ll see.
There is parking at both ends and you can walk across. Well worth a stop to stretch or rest your legs
